If anyone has not read this article then check it out. What kind of implications does this have on the audio industry?

None. At its current evolution the technology has the music reproduction ability of a poor telephone speaker (last I heard, the device is now maybe 2 or 3 years old). Given another decade and $100,000,000 is R&D and it may become a viable Hi-Fi technology.

hmmm, really. I wonder why none of that was mentioned in the article? Not the first time stories on yahoo news have been misleading, slanted or just plain wrong. I am not sure I would like sound being beamed into my head anyway no matter how good it sounded.

That has been around for sometime. The sound quality has improved greatly over the last two years from what I have heard. They have been doing much in the way of ship to ship communications for the Navy. Check it out here .
