Am I correct in this subwoofer hook up schme to my Denon AVR3000?

I want to set up my old Denon to my existing Home Theater setup.

Problem is it doesn't have a specific "out" for subwoofers.
I have a powered subwoofer (Sony SA-WM40). The Amp has three sets of preamp RCA outputs -front, center and rear, all with Left and Right channels. The subwoofer has a single RCA input. The simple solution I've come up with is run a cable from one of the FRONT preamp outlets to the input on the powered subwoofer. My assumption is that the subwoofer should only need one channel of input-or should I run a "Y" from the Left and Right Front channel Receiver output to the single input on the sub? When using the pre outs on the receiver, have I in effect bypassed the receivers volume control, thus making it necessary to control the subwoofer volume at the subwoofer itself, which has "Level" and "Cutoff Frequency" controls. Thank you for your help.

No, that is not correct because you are only getting the right side of the sound. Whether you run the Y or not, it will not be getting the correct sound. The preamp outputs are controlled by the volume control on the receiver. LINE OUT outputs are not controlled by the avr.

Thanks very much for the quick response. How about a "Y" at both ends-The receivers Right and Left pre-amp outs with a "Y" and that cable then going into another "Y" at the speaker-which only has one RCA input. I thank you so much for this information. Great to have guys willing to share their expertise

Is this a second thread? As I mentioned in another thread for this model avr at least, there is a mono pre-out on the back panel that is to be used for subs.

It's in the middle (with a red insert)-just below the Pre-Out Center RCA output.
