Any details on that amp would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the midst of trying to decide between some 200W amps, and a five-channel amp for $699 is quite tempting.
It's the same modules as their other 200w amps, but in a 5 channel frame. Same appearance as the other amps, which is to say very nice.

Now that I've seen and heard the Emotiva equipment, I am an Emotiva fan.

That has me curious, because those 200W modules are selling for about $200 apiece. I wonder how they are putting five of them in a new chassis and selling the whole thing for $699. Don't get me wrong...I won't be complaining if they do. :)

Very simple, they are using a much LARGER common power supply instead of independent supplies for each channel. I usually prefer this method since it allows for more headroom between channels when they demand that extra power. The only real disadvantage could be a penalty in stereo separation but if designed right it may only be a measurable, not audible difference.

I am not allowed to give you all the specs yet on the XPA-5. However, I can tell you that it is a Class A/B amplifier with a common power supply and is slated for release within the first quarter of next year. It will produce a minimum of 200 wrms x 5 channels. We will be releasing more info in due time, I promise. :)

Interesting. So those amp modules lined up so neatly in the rear of the case are not the same class H modules in your other amps. This some new information.

Nope, the Dual Tracking Class H amps are only in the MPS-1, MPS-2, IPS-1 and RPA-1. The new XPA-5 will be Class A/B.
