Guys
Does anyone have feed back on my above question. Will the Rythmik 12 provide a lot better sound and performance than my current Martin Logan Grotto I sub? They seem very similar in specs as well as both being servo and sealed. One thing about the ML Grotto is it's about 8 years old and was used in my HT set up. I currently have it set up with my Sierra 2's right now. It sounds OK. Just wondering if I buy the new sub will it be a big upgrade.....

I haven't heard the Grotto, but I have nothing bad to say about the Rythmik. Given the fact that the Grotto appears to be a 10" sub and being a bit smaller (though it is servo) the F12 would be an improvement since the F12 is 12"; it will still not have massive output due to being sealed. How MUCH of an improvement is probably the issue, and that is why I recommended a 15" sub instead, but not sure if output is a priority to you or not? Is there something you don't like about the Grotto (sound, output, etc...)?

Steve, you love that time out, lol I never seen anyone on probation before until you became a mod, you guys should change it to "time out" instead of probation, with a little timer, when my kids were younger and went into time out we had a little timer next to the "time out chair"...

I think Mo just wants to get banned since he seen the insults under his name...
You ain't been around long enough :) Temp bans/ Take 5, timeout, perma-ban, its all here.

Hard to say definitively since there's not much actual data on either one. The old ML Reserve subwoofer lineup was reputed to sound pretty good, even if they weren't considered screaming bargains at MSRP. Of course compared with the Grotto, the F12 obviously has the advantage of a larger driver and enclosure, and those tend to come in handy. All the same, a "big upgrade" seems a bit of a stretch.

Thanks
I got the Grotto for 750 bucks new when Sound Advise closed it's doors here in Florida. So it was a bargin over the 1600 new price. I am trying to weigh in on either to change the sub or get a new preamp? They are both in need for an upgrade in my opinion.

If you're moving the Grotto to your HT which is lacking subwoofage, that seems like it'd be the more pressing need.

My HT set up has a cheap Polk that came free when I purchased the LSI15 speakers two years ago.. It's not bad but not good either..

Haven't really heard any subs from Polk that I'd keep :)

Ha....Why do people hate Polk so much? I like them. They are not the best by any means. The LSi15 was very good until I got a listen to my new Sierra 2's... These Sierra's are insanely good.
Back on topic...

Mainly their subs :) I liked the LSIs enough for me to keep them for a year, but I sold the sub that came with the package within a few weeks.

Just to close this thread out... I ordered the Rythmik F12. Remembered that you get a discount from Ascend Acoustics if you order anything within 30 days of your speakers.. With this deal I couldn't do better..

I thought that was part of the consideration or I would have mentioned it too :) Thinking my next sub might be a F15HP.
