back up and running

To Howy: have not been using the monster speaker selector with the Denon setup. That was with the Sony HTIB earlier on.

To all: Ended up trading up to the denon 2106 which seems to have solved the problem. Can drive all speaker pairs individually and together as loud as I can bear...Maybe that 1804 was just sick from the start.

Regarding the impedance matching, given my current setup of downstairs on A, upstairs on B, outside on Zone 2, all being powered through the 2106, are there any other precautions I should take? I realize perfect world is having a separate amp for zone 2, but the current setup solves meets our needs for now.

Thanks again everyone!

Precautions . . .

Yes, if you continue to run speaker A AND B and you crank up the volume, your new receiver will go into protect mode just like the old one did because you are connecting a 4 ohm load to the amp. If you do this enough times, the receiver might die like your old one did. Because your new receiver has more power, it will go into protect mode at a higher volume level than the old one. Also, try not to run the receiver A AND B for long periods of time and keep the receiver well ventilated.

Using Z2 Better?

Is it advisable to put the speakers currently connected to the B spot into the Zone2 connections instead, or does that still yield the same issue?
