Alexa can’t play HD music

Even if you pay for it. Seems like a waste of $5 a month. Tried to on mine and she said “I cannot play it on this “.

My FireTV box won't play above CD quality. My laptop will (after finding the sample/bit rate settings) tho.

It takes several hours after you sign up for HD for it to update. (At least on my Fire stick 4K).

It's been a couple of days and my box still doesn't go above cd quality. I contacted Amazon the day this was available and they remotely went through all of my settings and said it should be good to go. It's not a huge deal. I have the app up and running at full resolution on my laptop right now. Things like this just bug me. I don't like being told "The settings are all correct and it should work" when it's not working...

Well on iPhone I had to delete app and reinstall it. It’s says device capability up to 24/48.

On Fire 4K stick I installed 8am yesterday and it started to work around 2pm. It says device capability up to 24/48 also.

I don’t have echo dot but we are getting a couple next week.

It does say Ultra HD in the app. The device is a second generation 4K FireTV.

Did you try the update area in the top menu in settings? Maybe just needs an update

I probably have gen 1 then. It is Alexa enabled tho. You'd think that the support agent who was remotely going through all my settings would have picked up on that... I gave her my model number and she looked it up.

Oh well. Like I said, I have full resolution on my laptop and have been a/b switching between my cd rips off and on for the last couple of days and I'm pretty convinced unless it's a level match issue, my cd rips sound better. My mp3 download of the new Tool album sounds better to me than Amazon's hi res stream.

That said, the ultra hd stuff is better than what they had before. I've a/b'd amazon music before this update with my rips and it was very easy to distinguish between the 2. Now it's not so easy to tell.

I doubt I'll be keeping the hd when it comes time to pay for it. I will say again, it's a hell of a lot closer to my rips than it was before. There's unquestionably an improvement to my ears over their standard, but I have what I want in CDs. I don't buy them very often, but if there's something I gotta have that's what I prefer. Besides, I like the ambience of a CD. There's nothing like that warm feeling you get when you hear the little imperfections, pops and crackles as the laser reads the disc... Wait, I might be confusing that with something else...

My vote is gen 1. It plays up to CD quality, which is pretty much just as good. I'm just gonna forget about it and focus on my genius intellect which I used to find the right settings in my lappy so I can stream full res with it.
