Closer look inside the cabinet now that all the old junk is out (i.e. Bose and analog switch) and all the sweet digital goodness is in.

Starting at the bottom my small but newly started BD collection, XBOX 360 with HD-DVD drive, and DirectTV HD Reciever.


Moving up little further you can see the Linksys Ethernet Switch, Panamax 5300 Ex stage IV power conditioner, and you can just bairley see the Sony BDP-350 Blue Ray player at the top.


At the very top is the new Onkyo 876. Every time I see the TrueHD come up I drull a little.


and with everything running a screenshot from Ironman, but my camera sucks in lowlight so the pic doesn't do it justice.

Alright so Christmas has finally come and gone. I had planned on posting some updates before now but forgive me i've been in audio bliss for the last week and incpable of leaving my reciever.

Santa Claus sure was good to you and your family. The home theater looks like it is coming along nicely. I wish I could of had a dedicated space like yours. I also like to color choices!!!

...Anyone buying audio or video within a few hours of Sounds Unlimited in Danville, VA its worth the drive to check em' out.

I think I'm about 2 hours away. I suppose that's probably worth the drive to get some good service. It's really hard to find good help these days.

ah yes thank you I believe I can answer that question, and for the record I knew it would come up I was just curious how long it would take. Paying close attention to detail in the photo, as any good audiophile should, one can observe that the volume is set at -30 db (yes thats negative thirty decimals) .

2 part answer here:
1. I was taking photos of everything all at once and needed the woofer particularlly on the sub to be still. I kept getting blurry shots. ( camera sucks, "yes I know")

2. My God it is thunderously loud in there with all those speakers going at reference level. Most of my music listening accurs at arould -5 db and most movies between -5 & -12. Its tuff to handel perfect 0 most of the time, and i really like it loud, drives my wife nuts and most my friends out the room. I guess its the combination good amp and highly efficent speaks but wow... did i metion its way way loud?

I was very happy with them. Ask for Chad he is the General Manager and installer for Home Theater projects. Its not the largest store I've ever been in but considering the area I think they have a lot of stuff cramed in there. Half the place is car audio and the other half home audio. They're really big into Klipsch so the show theater is set up with McCintosh amps on RF-63's and mathing surrounds. They have Polk and a few smaller Paradigm speakers along with the typical Bose and Yamaha HTiB, some other speaker brands too I can't recall.

I'll pm you there phone number so you can call ahead and be sure the drive is worth your time.

So far so good. Right now its hard surface on ever surface so it can be a little muddy at times. The carpet hadn't been put down yet. Installer should be here any day. Once that is down it'll deaden the room up a lot and I'll give you a better gauge of how the extra angles are effecting sound.

Thank you very much. Yes I really love the 82's. I couldn't be happier and 100% recommend them to anyone.

I actually got the RC-64 instead of the RC-62. I know the 62 is what Klipsch says matches the 82's but if you can come up with the extra bucks its worth every penny. Not to say that the 62 is a bad center, far from it. The RF-62 is a great speaker. I got some great prices which left a little extra money in my speaker budget so I put it all on the center.

a little update

Its been a while since my last update. Though not much has changed, this economy is kicking my butt, so the little theater addition took a hiatus. But here is a quick peak at what has happened.

I made a light proof shutter to cover the rear window

well i kind of expected to already have the seating by now ... but as aforementioned the economy kinda screwed that up for me. Wife and I have talked about getting the seating by the end of this year, so hopefully not to long

I really like the look of the copper woofers. When the lights are down and the screen is on you can't see any of the speakers at all. I do put the grills on from time to time. Particularly when i have friends over that have small kids. The plain black grills help cut down on the "shinny gotta touch it" factor.

Hey, man, you are not alone, if that makes you feel any better. The economy is only getting worse, IMO. I would hold on to your hats because it may never get much better.

Now for the good stuff. The shutter is a GREAT touch. Light control can make or break a system and that is especially true for front projecting. I am sure that is the biggest improvement in video quality in a long while.
