Would appreciate recommendation of other similar sub woofer.

I emailed hsuresearch, vtf1 mk 3 cost 399 usd and 450 usd shipping to hong kong because they only have access to one of the highest speed air courier and no local agent in hong kong

Any information on what are the decremental function, apart from output power, for each lower grade model from avr-x3400 down to avr-x1400?

Manual page number decreased by a few pages between them. Hinting that some ports, plug or function are eliminated on downward models

Did you look at SVS? PB1000 subwoofer might be an option to consider. They show a Hong Kong distributor on the SVS website.

The Denon USA site has a comparison tool (and imagine other Denon sites do too, that's the one I'm familiar with) and usually can compare 3 avrs at a time. You might also check out the "official" Denon thread at avsforum for details about differences in the 2017 models (or other model years)

Some floor standing bass reflect speaker has port opening at front, says, sony sscs3. Some has port at back, jbl arena 170. Some has no port.

Do real port speakers need certain distance between speaker back side and the wall?

Which type best suit my room? Sealed speaker (no port), front port or real port?

My room is 8.5 feet between two concrete wall. Tv at one wall and couch at the other wall. Tv view distance is 7 feet.

It is right that speaker last long time. Sony ss cs3, 5 and 8 look good.

If i spend more, what would you recommend? Would JBL lowest end products suitable. My neighbourhood bar has live music band playing, has proper professional amp, mixer and professional JBL. Sound great.

From web info, JBL has 3 product lines. Seem catalogue copyright hints release year.

Studio is older (since 30 years ago) traditional design. Work to 20kHz and spread the "frequency range" into narrower width. Feeding 3 drivers of closely incremental sizes, 6.5, 4 and 1 inch size.

The other two is newer design, working to 40kHz. I am older and in theory, with dimishing hearing at high frequency range. Likely, cannot hear 40kHz anyway.

Time ago, it was technically better to have 3 ways because driver of older time, did not response flat over too wide frequency range. I wonder if this is still true with modern drivers.

Studio 270, 3 way, 6.5, 4 and 1 inch driver, 16kg, 22kHz, catalogue copyright year 2013

Stage A170, dual 5.25, 1 inch driver, 40kHz, 14kg, catalogue copyright 2018

Arena170, 7 and 1 inch driver, 40kHz, 12.5kg, catalogue copyright year 2015

Any comment on yamaha ns-sw210? 150 usd and available locally. Surprisingly, it is active servo controlled at these price.
8 inches, 130w. User manual is clear and technical. Evidence of the level of engineering team who make it

I wouldnt choose them if I were in the budget category. I'd doubt the FR is at -3db, probably down 10, maybe.

Bass reflex is another way of saying ported or vented speaker. Generally advised to have at least twice the diameter of the port as a distance from the wall; won't matter with a front ported speaker (although having speakers further away from boundaries/walls have benefits). Hard to know what suits your room...what are all the dimensions and your seating position within those dimensions? Couch against a wall is not a good seating position acoustically.

I"d avoid JBL lowest end for the most part. Lowest I'd go for is what I bought recently, JBL LSR305 (an active speaker). If you like the JBL professional speaker ask the bar where they buy theirs...nothing wrong with having some JBL pro speakers in the home. I have also the upper end Studio series (590/580/530/520) and would recommend those but the ones below that level don't appeal to me (but haven't heard them, they might be fine).

You likely can't even hear 20khz. Depends on your age/sex somewhat (let alone that there's really no content even at 20khz).

Are you saying you need to be young and sexy to produce sounds that high pitched?

To everettT, do u meant that i should not buy sub if i am at budget?

are u querying the low end of their frequency response spec. Servo is suppose to make says 8 inch sub perform like 10 inch sub.

Not saying to not get a sub, but I (me) wouldnt be looking at those two. As for the servo, it dosent make one perform like a larger driver, but operates more efficiently with better cone control.

The speakers that are best are the ones you like- it's as simple as that.

What are the other room dimensions? A small room doesn't need large speakers and in your room, it's probably best to keep them simple- I would be interested in the ones that have a 7" woofer and 1" tweeter because the crossover would be more simple. As long as the woofer is designed to perform well in the bass, it could be a good choice for the room- it's best to find main speakers that sound good without a subwoofer.
