Advice Required On Marantz

<font color='#000000'>I was at my local audio/video store where they carry Marantz and Yamaha.
I looked at the Marantz 7300 compared to the Yamaha 2400.
This is my first time looking at HT receivers and I was impressed with Marantz's design.
How does the 2400 and 7300 compare?
I'm into music and not gimmicky DSP fields.
For me less is more. (i'm not talking 2 channel )
How is Marantz regarded in this forum?
Are they reliable?
I heard that Marantz and Denon are now owned by Phillips. Is this true?

I really liked the Marantz and can get it for 899cdn (690us) on a inventory clearout.
The Yamaha is about 1200cdn (920us)
