Late to the conversation, but it's worth saying...

I've read that frequency response isn't a good indicator of speaker performance.
Frequency response is the about the best indicator of a speakers performance.

But for it to be of any use to you, it must be a graph with on and off axis response, the "frequency response 20Hz to 20kHz" stuff is useless.

Thanks again, the backwall is completely open. That may nix the S200surround speakers.

If I were to go with the S30s, but I can't afford four of them, do you think two M50's would pair with them adequately (for rear speakers)? Is there a spec that informs how to tell when two different sets of bookshelves would work well together?
It is tough to say if they will blend well, but the good news is that the difference between surrounds and mains matters less than the difference between the front three speakers. I think a set of M50s would do fine as surrounds, though my ultimate recommendation would be to get them all matching if at all possible.
