A friend gave me 2 of the b&w cwm 800 in wall speakers and 4 of the in ceiling speakers. I don't have a center channel speAker and can't afford the b&w. Can anyone suggest a cheaper center channel speaker that will work with this set up? This is my first audio set up.

Maybe look at Sonance or Niles as a stopgap if it must be in-wall.

In wall isn't necessary. That's just what he gave me. I guess I'm just wondering if they have to have the same frequency response or if that matters?

Unless they are worlds apart I wouldn't worry about it. Since you can't afford to get the matching center right now I'd just try to spend as little as possible. In wall speakers aren't too great to begin with. You might just get a stand alone center channel.
