Many many of the failures, that's why they initiated a special program. Huge thread on avsforum about the warranty program and all who were participating let alone before that. Some may have been exacerbated by users with heat issues, sure, but mine was vented well and suffered the problem early last year (and now after warranty repair works great, less heat than before I think too but didn't measure).
I look at from the stand point that onkyo noticed there was an issue and was more than willing to fix the situation. Was there a problem, no doubt. When a company is going to stand out and do what is needed, that's a plus in every direction. Heck they even fixed used units sold 3rd party. They could have been like apple and released firmware that lowered the performance lol

Yes props for them finally dealing with the issue....and quickly/efficiently/painlessly as far as my own experience went. However it's still a good footnote for those who may not be aware when shopping used. Sold new third party? In any case only refurbs out there now so not an issue now, and don't believe for used the warranty plan is valid. They seem to have much better reliability from what I've noticed since....
