Hi everyone...I'm new to the forum and just need some help on speakers. Here is my current setup:
RX-V661 (Just ordered)
PS3
40' - 1080p Sony Bravia.
I have some old Pioneer/Yahama Speakers 5.1 which i'd like to replace.

I'd like to get a nice speaker set..7.1, for around 1000-1200? I've been looking around and just seems like there are so many brands....just wanted some advice. Thanks for your help!!!

Oh sorry...my room is about 10-15 give or take.:D

There has been many, many threads asking the same question. Maybe a trip through the search feature would give you some answers.

You should always audition speakers yourself to find the ones that sound best to you. Bring your own material to audition. CD's, DVD's that your familiar with. Take your time and have fun with it.

Systems like these

PSB Alpha series

First I apologize for the repeat thread question.....thanks for the list of options....I have a feeling my budget will go up but I figured 1K was a good starting point.

There was a thread just recently that talked about this in which the person ended up buying Polk R150s (I believe) from Fry's for a very inexpensive price. I suggest searching for that. Certainly worth a listen for what those speakers cost ($50/pair, I think).

Something to think about....

The fronts are the only speakers that almost absolutely need to be timbre matched. You could just get the front left, right, center, and subwoofer for now. Then you could use a pair of the speakers you had for surrounds and surround backs until you get those at a later date when you have more money.:)
