I would choose the SVS as well for the same reasons....unless I absolutely needed the extra dB.

Ah, I see that now. You're right.

But I'd still choose the SVS for all the other reasons. There's more to a sub than raw output SPL, IMO, which is the only area the Outlaw wins (other than price).
There definitely is more to a sub than raw output, but raw output counts for quite a bit. Clean output counts for even more, and the Outlaw has more than double the clean output for most of the frequency range. I would agree with you that the SVS is a bit more refined, given its flatter FR and lower distortion per SPL, but that doesn't count for nearly as much as the clean headroom that the Outlaw provides.

Interesting!!

Whats funny is that if you JUST compared the drivers that are in each of these subs, you'd think the Peerless driver in the SVS would do a lot better than the Outlaw driver (HSU). Of course i know that just looking at a driver tells you NOTHING about its performance. Just shows how efficient Dr.Hsu is with designing a sub & squeeeezing out every bit of performance! Thats interesting to me! :)

The Rythmik FV12 is a great option as well. I like the servo design & at $560 shipped its a great sub for sure!!!

Dual FV12 for $1120 would make for some great bass in your room!
The FV12 seems like a good sub (especially for the price). The web page recommends using it with the bass manangement in an AV receiver (which I won't have for a while). I didn't get a clear answer on this from Rythmik. It seems like it will connect fine (2 options for me) and the company emailed that it would fill my almost 3000 CF space.

I'm assuming that the SVS will fill my space a little "better" and there's at least some "get what you pay for here." BTW, I'm not sure what the DSP control is. I didn't find a lengthy explanation on the SVS page and may email them unless one of you guys can give me the Cliff Notes.

Thoughts appreciated and thanks again. This is almost as bad a shopping for clothes other than this has a much better cool factor IMHO.

You should use the bass management on your receiver regardless of which sub you get, the Rythmik doesn't need it anymore than any of these others. Another thing is I'm not sure the PB12 could actually fill the space better than the Rythmik FV12. The FV12 is a pretty capable subwoofer. I would suspect the PB12 might be able to do better at the lowest frequencies of its tuning point, but this is all speculation.

I believe the DSP control more precisely controls the juice going into the driver, and so can more carefully control the driver's behavior. The advantage of this is the driver could never leave defined boundaries of operation. You will never bottom out the sub, you can always keep a totally flat frequency response (within the driver and amps ability), and you can restrict behavior in a way that minimizes distortion. There isn't any real down sides to this (that I can see) unless you are too conservative in limiting the sub's operation- this is a criticism that has been levied against the Emotiva X-Rex12.
