Hello all,
Being on a very tight budget, and being a born experimenter, I've lashed together a system for listening to mp3 misic files and movies from a flatscreen TV that has an SD card slot. The headphone output of the TV goes to a pair of active 25w PC speakers to which I have added parallel outputs, going to a pair of 6ohm hi-fi speakers (with 5.5" woofers). I'm planning to add a single 4ohm 12" subwoofer.
I have an extra 200w stereo amplifier which I can use exclusively for the subwoofer, which I could perhaps use in bridged or parallel (Which would be best?) I thought this would be a simple question until I read the wikipedia page on bridged/parallel modes.
The other question is about low-pass filters. I've seen a type that goes between the signal source and the amplifier. It has three settings (3 different cutoff frequencies):

Are these as good as the no-settings type of passive filter that goes between the amp and the speaker?:

Many thanks!
