I noticed a link on this board I hadn't seen on other forums "Add to reputation" ? what's that all about?
D.R.Payne, it's generally a means of expressing feedback or thanks for helpfulness...and hopefully that translates also into identifying an experienced and more knowledgeable member. (Except in my case, where I have everyone fooled...
) It can also be used to "disapprove of a post"...providing negative feedback, as well.
Note that you have been thanked 4 times in previous posts. The "Add to reputation" link awards multiple thanks at once, the points depending upon the post/reputation status of the person doing the adding. Ten is a normal amount, I think.
Note the little green chiclet looking icon, also in the upper right hand corner, near the "Add..." icon. Once you get 100 points, you will then display two green (chiclet) icons in your posts...and one more for each additional 100 rep points. The thankyou points that you currently have represent one point each. If someone gains significant disapproval from forum members, the chiclet will turn red.
Lastly, if you click on your User CP button (upper left-hand corner of the page), you'll see your 5 most recent reputation points/comments received.
Personally, I like the system as it tends to keep things more civil here.
Now for a little practice
D)...click on that reputation icon in my post. You'll see a window that opens and says "I disapprove" or "I approve" of the posted comment. You can write something to the poster if you wish, or just give the feedback (only if you wish to, lol).
There you go. Welcome to Audioholics!
