Hey,
I have a 4 ft x 8 ft opening leading to another room from my listening room. I was wondering if there are any curtains thick enough to soundproof (or sound deaden or....decrease the sound) from the next room. In the next room I have a fish tank which is decently loud and if you sit on the left side of the listening room (near the bulk of the acoustic treatment) it almost sounds like you have cotton in your left ear and a fish in your right. I really don't want to put doors in this entrance (especially because I am renting the house), so curtains would be ideal. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Thick curtains will help with high frequency but you'll still likely hear the tank filter motor. You just need mass. If you want to make your own, you could sew some limp mass vinyl as the middle of the curtains - that would help some.
