accuracy of logitech harmony for sherwood newcastle

Hi guys, I have a sherwood newcastle r-872 av. I like the concept of the just/almost released Harmony 900 - the RF version of the harmony one.

But because the Newcastle line isn't hugely popular, I'm wondering how good the command database within Logitech is for this reciever, or brand?

Anyone have some experience with that pairing?

I hate remote control programming, so I only want to go down this route if they already have some good data when I plug the model number into the computer; I don't want to face my remotes together and start "learning" them all the commands...

Thanks,
Scott

thanks mate, I did already confirm that it is one of the 225,000 devices with a profile, so that is somewhat promising... but I was hoping for someone with first hand experience to confirm that it is a good and/or comprehensive profile.

( I'm trying to post this at the axiom forum but am having trouble getting password reset...)

Hey Scott, go ahead, and get this state-of-the-art remote control from Logitech Harmony.

It will have all the codes for your Sherwood Newcastle R-872 A/V Receiver, and more. Logitech has already these codes in their data base, for your model receiver.

* Plus, they'll give you more that you don't even know exist. :)

>> By the way, the Harmony 900 is the true Limo of all remotes, at this price point.
And to double confirm what I'm telling you, just call Logitech, like I already did. ;)

Cheers,
Bob

Aside from overall flexibilty, when is Harmony going to allow for discrete IR output of their base stations?

You mean assignable outputs on the RF extender or discreet commands?

Because they would no longer be needed and that won't happen.

The problem I have seen in all remote manufacturer databases is that people don't name some commands what they're called on the OEM remote. This leads to confusion and wastes time. Also, some code sets are incomplete and have flaws.

The good thing is that if you have problems with the existing code set, you can learn every button and they will allow yours to be available to others. If you do this, do it in RAW.

Was talking about asignable ir output. I rarely have issues with discrete codes with the exception of cheaper gear and some old yama DVD players and power. A lot of manufactures, especially CE geared companies, provide full code sets if the universal maker has an issue.
