I received the receiver in very good condition. This was a remanufactured item and there were no physical dings, dents, scratches, or physical blemishes of any kind. I just hooked everything up excluding the bluray player (I need another HDMI cable to do so). I ran the set up function and Audyssey. This unit sounds much better than my black Friday (Circuit City) Pioneer receiver I bought YEARS ago. Very happy with my purchase so far. I will give a full opinion/review (everyone's got one right?) after I have had some time to get familiar with the unit. So far, very happy with my purchase experience from A4L. They shipped fast and I got a great deal.

I think a $499 refurb from ac4l.com with the $50 5 year extended warranty* has to be one of the best deals out there. Especially if you buy an Onkyo!

I do wish they caried more Mordaunt-Short speakers though.

I prefer FedEx over UPS. A FedEx/Kinko's is 2 miles away for customer p/u. With UPS it's 15 miles away, or an extra $5 for a UPS Store p/u. More damaged items from UPS as well but that's just my experience. But both are better than USPS.

* I've never bought/used the extended warranty but hopefully it's legit.

I am thoroughly impressed with the sound quality of this reciever! It blows away my old pioneer unit. The sound from my old Bose 4001 fronts and VCS-10 center is MUCH improved. I'm still replacing the speakers, but it shows the great sound quality of the receiver. I can keep the volume much lower and still have clear dialogue and sound when watching TV. Music sounds GREAT. The Marantz 5008 seems to effortlessly produce great sound. Best HT/M component investment I've ever made. I just recieved my new SVS SB-2000 and getting that dialed in. Both great pieces so far. I would highly recommend the the Marantz 5008 and express the great transaction purchasing this refurbished unit from A4L. The SVS sub isn't too shabby either. Bass sounds tight and accurate without any boominess. Just what I was looking for. Overall I am 1000% pleased with my investment.
