Hello guys...I currently have denon 682 receiver and found following two receivers I don't have a clue as to what to do...
1. HK335 open box for US $ 219 slightly bruised
2. Yamaha 5860 open box for US $ 130 - almost brand spanking new

Both are available with extended warranty. So here is my delima.....
I have the following speakers.

1. Bose vcs10

2. Klipsch SLX as front speakers

1" aluminum dome K-138 neodymium tweeter in a round 3-3/8" Tractrix horn

3. DENON satelite speakers as the 2 back speakers
SC-70C - 6 ohm speakers 2 way reflex speaker system

My question is that
a. which one is a good receiver
b. would the HK 335 receiver do the "clipping" thing with the Klipsch slx speakers?
c. My subwoofer (6 inches - 55 watts) - would it be damaged by the too much power of HK 335?
d. I have an option to buy JBL Sub10 10 inch 250 watts at about US $ 150 - should I go for it???

please please guys...any guidance - I would be very grateful!
thanks...

May also be helpful to ask yourself why you want to upgrade your current receiver, (i.e. do you need more features and if so what features or are you looking for more power?) and see if the HK or the Yamaha suit your needs to upgrade better.

Actually - my reasoning is going sound stupid - it was just that the price for the HK - I thought I will never find a receiver of that kind from a place like circuit city with a 3 year warranty for 20 bucks extra.....and the bad boy sounds AMAZING....so I thought I would use the denon as a stereo system in the bedroom...??
Please tell me if this is not normal....

In general, look to your speakers and room acoustics to improve the sound quality in a meaningful way. I would focus first on the two front main speakers. If you are happy with them, I would next get a subwoofer. I am not familiar with the JBL sub, so I can not comment on it. Next a new center speaker. Some might suggest replacing the Bose center first, but again I have not heard it.

It's normal, it's called upgraditis. No clipping problem unless you crank it too loud. The JBL sub should perform better than your current sub. If your current sub is powered, it doesn't use power from the receiver, just the low-level frequency signal.
