XTZ makes a quality product, and that's an opinion derived from hands-on experience. They're definitely legit. The fully fleshed out product line is a testament to that fact, not an indication of any maleficence.
I started working with XTZ about a year ago, when they were establishing their first NA presence. At that time they were a European only ID company. The dealers you find working with XTZ over in Europe are due primarily to import restrictions; certain countries don't allow direct imports, so you have to establish a partnership with a local company in order to sell your products. That's where they differ with US based ID companies, but it's because of the culture not the company.
The way XTZ and I hooked up was because of an email I sent them in the summer of 2011 asking if they had any intention of shipping product in the US, not knowing they were going to open their Chicago warehouse a few months later. The person who replied turned out to be the CEO, and we've been communicating ever since. I told him if they ever did get that venture off the ground I would like to review one of their subwoofers. He apparently remembered that and when XTZ set up shop in the US I got an email asking me if I was still interested in doing a review. Guess you can figure out how that conversation went.
They've had a rough road of it since they opened shop though, but that's too long a story to detail here. I've helped them with a lot of things since last year, trying to give him an understanding of the US sales climate, distribution methods, competitors for specific product categories, American business model information, website assistance and on and on. AAMOF, I'm in the process of helping XTZ broker a deal with a distributor here in the US, so you may be seeing more of them sooner then later.
I ended up getting the first speaker/subwoofer product they ever shipped in the US (they had been selling the Room Analyser in the US for a while, but that's the only thing they sold). They ended up shipping it to me before the company was actually established here, but I was asked not to publish the review until they had the distribution facility up and running. Even after they gave me the 'go' to put out my review they weren't quite setup properly, so the CEO had to travel here a few times in the first 3-4 months to straighten things out. They're more polished now, but they still need a bit of work on their distribution system and website. The products are first rate though.
Not sure if everyone knows this, but their NA website is xtzsound.com. If you do a google search you might end up getting their Swedish URL, which is xtz.se. IMHO, the XTZ products are worth your consideration. I very seriously doubt you'll end up regretting it. I was so enamored with the 10" sub I reviewed that I bought a 12" one from them. And yes, I still like it, even though I've had a chance to try a dozen others since then.
