ABC's John Stossel on Obama's 'Health Care' Plan

I have always like John Stossel and felt that he is a straight shooter. I remember a report that he did a few years ago where he blasted Dem's & Rep's for wasteful spending and pork projects. Here's a story that he did about gov't run health care.

A little background on Stossel. He's open about being a Libertarian, which puts him in a very exclusive club as far a journalists go. As a reporter that does special reports that has allowed him to edit/tweak whatever he puts on the air to fit his point of view. Therefore, like any television report it must looked at with a very critical eye. That being said, I've enjoyed many of his programs over the years, and have seen his strengths and shortcomings.

You are correct John Stossel is a Libertarian. Though, all of the shows go through the scrutiny of ABC's lawyers and producers first.

Be careful not to fall into a common trap. Don't make the mistake of looking at 'who', or 'what group' said something; then simply writing it off.
Check the facts and compare it to 'what' was said, regardless of who said it.

They may go through lawyers, but the producers of his segments are pretty much cherry picked to be able to work with him. Besides, he's paid more than either group, because he is a star and unique to news, therefore, ABC will go along to keep him happy. But you still get his political slant, though rounded at the edges.

I think hearing all views, as long as they are accurate and give a modicum of balance is important.
