Yeah, though I believe Michigan is one of the top states for deer hunting. It's a way of life here.

Grew up in Iowa. We didn't have school on the first day of deer season because no one would show up.

Sounds like the same thing. A lot of more rural communities here are the same way. Opening day sounds like a warzone (no offense)

I spent my last 2 years of high school (not to mention college) in the U.P.

We were closed for Opening Day of Deer Season both years. I don't hunt. Was just a nice day off for me.

Venison is tasty. Alot of my U.P. friends are obsessed with most sportsman activities, only thing I do is bass fish from time to time in the summers there.
