I have a Panasonic AX200u which I love. What I need is advice on which reciever to pair with it. I bought a sony home theater in a box but it would not pass the sound through. I need Advice on which reciever, under 500$, would be best, It must be able to pass sound through the HDMI connection. Any help would be much appreciated. THankyou in advance.

Can you clarify your question a bit more.

What source were you using to pass HDMI to the Sony and then to the projector?

It passed the video through but no sound?

Please list how you connected your products.

Sorry I don't remeber, It was over a month ago. It was a cheap system it had a HDMI imput but no HDMI, or even S video, output. I am sorry for the lack of info I am a novice at all this. I want to buy a better system but am afraid to order a reciever online after the problems I had with the Sony. I just want to make sure I get the right one. I have a Dish Network 622 Sat. System which recieves a HD signal. Doing some research I found that some recievers will not pass the sound through the HDMI connection and require an additional connection for sound which my Projector does not have a connection for. Thankyou for trying to help, any advise is apprecated as I am a complete novice at this.

Ok now I understand better. I'm still not sure why there would be any need for the projector to have anything to do with the sound but I will let it go.

The recent models from Onkyo, Pioneer and Yamaha will all do what you need.

The RX-V663 from Yamaha http://store.audioholics.com/product/1759/69/yamaha-rx-v663

Onkyo 605 http://store.audioholics.com/product/1803/69/onkyo-tx-sr605

Both of these will upconvert to HDMI from other video sources and will the Onkyo will process all of the new surround formats.

You could run the HDMI from your SAT and hook up your DVD and other sources to the receiver and just run an HDMI cable to your projector.

I think there maybe some coupons posted here for the audioholics store.

I check you projector, nice projector by the way will support 1080i or 1080p and other modes.

Look fro a receiver that spports HDMI 1.3 they will pass both audio and vidoe through HDMI cable. Contrary to specifications, most equipment stating HDMI 1.1, will only pass video.

Having said all that I lso have DisNetwork. I have a 622 on 722 (LOL supporting tow standard TVs and two HD TVs all with recording). The DishNetowrk HMDI interface is 1.3 and it passes both audio nad video.

If you are willing to upgrade AVR ( audio video receiver) you can get a lot of good advice on this forum. For as little as $229 you can buy a Yamaha RX-V363 receiver that will meet your needs. There are a lot of good AVRs alos :)

Thanks for the imput Midcow2. Just got the onkyo 605 for 350 including shipping. Any good advice on speakers, budget is limited, 300-500$. Can't wait to get sound for the panasonic, I have been tuning my tv to the same channel so I could get sound, or playing DVD's through my computer so I could use its speakers lol. Spent all my money on the projector had none left over for other components, got it for X-mas. It's great as is but with the Onkyo it should be alot better.

I'm confused... Why would you want HDMI passthru for audio on the receiver?

Almost no home theater projectors, including the AX200, have audio inputs on them or speakers inside of them.

The Onkyo will decode the audio and send it out to surround speakers, and then send video on to the projector.

I guess some A/V receivers can switch HDMI, but are incapable of processing audio over HDMI, which is just a lousy cheap receiver.

Is the real question wheather or not the receiver will extract audio through the HDMI connection?

Most receivers under $500 with HDMI v1.3a will not have audio support through HDMI. Check the specs carefully.

The Cambridge Audio S30s are great speakers for $219/pair plus shipping.

If you are mainly listening to TV and DVDs the center channel carries most of the voice. Normally you want to match brands to maintain timbre ( seamless sound across front) however Cambridge Audio does not really make a center speaker. The ProCenter1000 from Defintive Technology is a great center speaker for about $220. It would give you clear voice dialog.
