Didn't see a forum dedicated to this, so bear with me. Can anyone provide the names of some manufacturing companies or furniture companies that make very high quality A/V furniture? I need something that errs on the side of being very nice (we'll be putting this in a nice house in a nice neighborhood), and can hold a somewhat beefy receiver, several other components, etc. Thanks.

Furniture

If you want good stuff that the wife will approve, aside from the above post check out.

Hooker Furniture, Stanley Furniture, and Ethan Allen. All the furniture man. are finally starting to realize that they are loosing a lot of money by not making good AV stuff. DLP stands for sure.

I will edit this post with the links to these companies.

I have several pieces from Billy Bags. Every piece is made to your custom specs. Definitely a bit industrial and masculine, but my wife has no problem with the aesthetics. Great stuff. I recommend the brushed aluminum finish. The cracked glass is a beautiful option, but very expensive.

Also check out http://www.racksandstands.com. They carry all the well known brands, such as Bello, Wood/Metal Technology, BDI, Sanus, etc.

Be on the lookout for a/v furniture at a regular furniture store too. I got lucky and got a solid wood tv 'credenza' by Welton Furniture for only $300. It is almost identical to a similar offering from Wood Technology that was selling for $1100.

I like the looks of it too, but it's out of my price range. Did you get their stuff direct or through a dealer?

Through a dealer. I have their executive desk, rack, phono table, monoblock stands and speaker stands. They ship via Yellow in the best packaging I have ever seen. Everything comes made to order and fully assembled. Really great stuff.

Does the dealer offer any sort of discount off MSRP? Just curious, the look of this stuff is really fantastic.

Thanks!

I found Studiotech's special offer prices to be quite decent:

I grabbed a six shelf one, went to home depot to buy some round cap bolts, and had myself two racks for the price of one order! (A 4 shelfer and a 2 shelfer).

Also, if you can find a good woodworking guy who charges a fair price, then that is a great way to get custom stuff.
You may need to ask around though. Also, if you live in a nice house, do NOT let them come to you for an estimate. Go to them.

Rack

I just purchased one from Sanus. I should be getting it soon. I know it is going to look great. My other choice was Studiotech. Both reasonably priced. Now if you want to really step it up (up in the $1000-$35,000 range)I can direct you to those. Good luck.
