FWIW, I stil prefer my well-calibrated CRT picture to most Flat Panel LCD's I have seen (both in stores and homes). Everything seems to have a more natural color (especially skin tones) to me on a CRT. I'm not saying a good LCD can't look ok, but I'd never buy one until the black levels improve. LCD's do have advantages (and to a lesser extent plasma's): their size, weight, ease of movement and shipping, less reflection in a bright room, and of course they look pretty hanging on the wall. Think I could hang my 175lb, 4 ft deep TV on the wall if I tried hard enough? :)

The only TV I've seen recently that makes me want to replace the CRT is the Pioneer Plasma, not including some front PJ's. I suppose at some point I will take the plunge, but I'll be sorry to see it go.

Have any of you CRT owners switched over to the newer TV's (LCD, Plasma) yet? I was just in my local yesterday and saw one of the new Sony Plasma TV w/ full 1080p and it looked sweet. The PQ's are getting much better but I'm still very pleased with my Beast.

Waiting for another two or three years is my goal before buying something bigger, just hope I can resist. Maybe by then these sweet plasma prices (now around $2,500) will be under 1k.

Plasmas seem to match the look and feel of CRT better than LCD, particularly the blacks.

If I were in the market for something 34" or smaller, I would not consider anything other than CRT (assuming I could accomodate the size and weight.) The picture is much better than anything else I have seen. When I switch to a different technology, it will be exclusively for the larger size (and hopefully, by then, they will have improved enought to at least approach CRT PQ.)
