I want to hook a digital HD capable cable box to a JVC D-VHS VCR. If I run an i.link from the cable box to the VCR and then use an HDMI cable to connect the VCR to the TV, will I need any other A/V connections to the VCR? I read somewhere that the i.link and the HDMI carry both audio and video. The instruction manual for the JVC gets a little confusing on this topic.
If I use this connection scheme, will I be able to watch TV through the cable box without turning on the VCR?
I am trying to minimize A/V cables because I will also be routing signals from the cable box to a DVD recorder and a A/V receiver.
