A good source for objective speaker info

While it is far from complete and I think the rest of the SoundStage sites are often of questionable value, this site has extensive measurement results done at the NRC facility in Ottawa, Canada of many popular speakers. No subjective commentary, just graphs. Being a measurements-tell-it-all kinda guy I think it's worth a look. The decidedly wobbly graphs of some well-regarded speakers are eye-opening. (You Thiel fans will note with pleasure that they have nearly ruler-flat response.)

It's interesting to me that some of the speakers which I thought sounded good but a little bright for me have the extended flat treble. I guess I like a little roll-off in the top end.

Check out this Krell measurement. Notice the different response with the grills on and off.
Not to mention that roller-coaster response either way, especially that plateau in the midrange. Ouch! And at Krell prices!

Goes to show that when it comes to speakers, you don't necessarily get what you pay for.
