Getting together with friends tonight. Us and 3 other couples...two of the guys are volunteer firefighters and one of the women is the secretary for one of the local fire departments. We'll be having a moment of silence and a toast or two...

It's amazing how 9 years goes by - yet, to me, it's as clear as ever. I was working about 10 miles from the Pentagon on that day. A very sad moment.

It's also ironic how it has changed some of my ways - in a musical sense. At the time, I was really into Blues Traveler. Had 3 or 4 of their CDs in my car all the time. Loved what they did. However, 9/11 put me in such a "funk", I can no longer listen to their music because it takes me back to that time - from a memory sense. It basically took me about 2 months before I even started to get back into music following 9/11. Even then, it was a very slow pace.

Edit: I just realized this is post "666" for me in the 9/11 thread. Yikes!

Having witnessed the smoking towers and the collapse of the second one from a skyscraper across the river, the image will never leave me.

My sister was in the pentagon that day and had just left the area that was hit. Our family will never forget that day.

I am watching "102 Minutes That Changed The World" on the History Channel right now. It is a real time montage of the events from a multitude of sources, much of which I have never seen. It is commercial free as well. Props to the History Channel for being the only one to air anything on this 9th anniversary.

I will never forget.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was just arriving to work when I heard about it on the Bubba show. I grew up in NY and I lost a high school friend that I didn't hear from since graduation but it still resonated. I didn't get any work done that day but after that I felt a sense of pride that I was doing classified government work designing audio communications systems for NAOC, Airforce One and the White House. It still ticks me off we haven't brought the primary people (namely Bin Laden) to justice for such a horrific crime.

I get that but hiding in caves and shitting on rocks for 9 years is no picnic either. We'll still get to make him wish somebody actually would cut his head off (eventually) and his current state of paranoia is just bonus. My personal belief is that nobody ever really gets away with anything.

You wouldn't believe how many times they had the opportunity to take that bastard out - missions which ops would stumble upon the location and the words come over the radio - TURN AROUND....

Very frustrating for the mission specialists that had to follow orders such as those from the higher ups.
Oh the stories I get to hear from my GF.... not cool..

I was working a big job right on the NJ shore that day. We heard on the radio what had happened and could see the smoke.
My wife's cousin was late for a meeting in tower one, she was stuck in traffic.
The town I grew up in had 37 people die.

They showed a bunch of specials on the History Channel last night, and we recorded them.
One was all the amateur video
I'd recommend anyone to watch if they only have an abstract view of what happened that day.
