83 inch OLED from a 75 inch Mini-LED?

Ok we recently were finally able to buy a house with a decent HT room. I have a TCL 75 inch Mini-LED from a few years ago and I wanted to go up to the 100 inch range but now I'm thinking just go OLED 77 or 83 inch for the absolute best picture quality over enormous size. I'm 11 feet from the screen so 75 inch works for me so 77 would work also but thinking maybe 83 inch might be better. Would I notice a size difference from 83 inches over 75 inches? I would say 77 over 75 would not be noticeable? Now if I go 77 I can get when its on a good sale the LG C4 but if I go 83 I would probably be staying in the LG B4 model. What are your thoughts overall? Thanks.

Go for the LG OLED 77". The picture is superb.

Get the 83"! Or bigger! QDLED, MiniQDLED's can come very close to OLED tvs. Both have trade offs. Plus spending that much on a huge TV get the 5 year warranty also. As for movie use, nothing beats an OLED. Sony A95L is King though. Samsung or LG's flagship OLED are just as good, Sony has the best processing, but Sony uses LG panels. Samsung no DV.

Thanks, I think I've kinda made up my mind to stick to going OLED. Sony would be fantastic but it would have to be a crazy sale and a scratch and dent kinda thing. Sony is a wee bit expensive.

I might suggest the bigger B4. The C4 is not significantly better in picture quality. It does get a bit brighter but you’d probably never know it without them side by side. If the room cannot be made dark in the day time, the bigger and slightly less bright B4 may not be the way to go.

I’m still enjoying my 77” C1 EVO. I had to go into the service menu to prevent auto dimming but that is not an issue on newer models. I can’t say enough about the picture quality and will never go back to an LED TV.

That was my exact question and thinking really. If I'm going 83 inch I have to go B4 because of the price. All the reviews on the B4 are fantastic. I think LG is releasing a B5 too so when that comes out leftover B4 83 inches might be at an even better price. Thanks for the suggestion and I'm pretty much on board with you.

I did not realise how much those 83" OLEDs have dropped in price!

I'm highly biased towards larger screens, so I'd say go with the 83 inch. I have an 85 Samsung Q80 and I like the size. This is somewhat subjective, of course.

In my non-expert opinion, a smaller TV might be better for gaming because your eyes can take in a larger portion of the screen (at a given distance). I find the 85 less than optimum for gaming because I miss things happening on one side of the screen when I look at something on the other side of the screen. I like the immersive experience, but I tend to get knocked off on multiplayer games because I get focused on one part of the screen (I'm not good at these games to begin with; a better player might not have this problem)

I recently replaced a 75" Q6 with a 77" C4 and I don't notice the size difference.

In the B4 line there are some differences between the 83" and the other sizes:

>>>We tested the 65-inch LG B4 (OLED65B4PUA), and the results are also valid for the 48, 55, and 77-inch models. . . .

The 83-inch model shares a lot of similarities with the LG C4 OLED. It uses LG's Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen7, supports a 144Hz refresh rate, has three USB ports, and a 2.2 channel speaker system, all of which are the same as the C4. Due to these shared features, we expect the 83-inch model to perform more in line with the C4. However, it doesn't have LG's Brightness Booster technology like the C4 does, so it isn't as bright overall.<<<

I'm not sure how much difference there is, but I'd want to see an 83 before buying one.

Rtings says the 83" C4 is the same as the other sizes, except the 42 and 48:

>>>We bought and tested the 65-inch LG C4 (OLED65C4); these results are also valid for the 55, 77, and 83-inch sizes."

If you go with a Samsung S90D, the 42, 48, and 83 are WOLED, whereas 55, 65, and 77 are QD-OLED.

Personally, I find the variations within certain model lines annoying, especially in the Samsung line. It appears to me that they want to market the S90 as QD-OLED, but 83 inch QD-OLED panels are not yet available so they slipped an 83 inch WOLED into the lineup using the same model line designation.

I'm not sure if these variations within model lines make much difference, but it's something to check out before making a final decision.

Totally agree Yep, Sony cost more even at a sale price. Doc and Trebdp83 are correct LG or Samsung are no slouches, cost hundred's less. That LG-B4 is very nice. I did actually research those, LG,Sony, Samsung OLED tvs even went into a BestBuy did a side by side, Sony won out, if funds aren't an issue, but price was an eye opener. LG won out, like Trebdp83 stated, one would be hard pressed spending on a Sony A95L over an LG flagship. I'd use the savings on an extended warranty for sure. All 3 had beautiful color, beautiful contrast.
