Today, I heard these for the first time on a Classe pre and power amp. Even at low volumes, when they started to play the first thing that I could hear was power. I think it was set at -29 db. I own some Totem Forests and this is the difference that I noticed between the 2... power. It's almost like I was able to feel the air that it was blowing out of the speakers. The bass was almost too much. I would think that these speakers would be meant for a large room. The damn things were 16k  I must say that they were nice but for an extra $12, 500... I don't think I would spend the extra money on those. I agree that they are nice but wow they are not cheap. Super nice speakers but I think my Totems are just as musical. However, it's pretty cool to hear the 802's power.

P.S. Those Classe components looked pretty sharp as well.

They certainly move air, I'll give you that. Like you, though, I've experienced speakers costing less than half of that which I felt were better in many areas. But the bass is pretty striking on the 802D's.

I think the tipped up response is due to Stereophile's measurement technique, but here's the graph for kicks anyway:

It's actually not too bad from 200Hz-8kHz like +/-3dB.

I really like the 802 but unless I had a huge room I would choose with the 803 or 804.

Yes, but you are giving up the 20 layers of beech, 10 coats of lacquer, 4 days of polishing, .......................and a Marlan head in a pear tree.:D:D
