If amp is 4 ohm stable, then 8ohms should not be a problem (or 16). 2 8ohm loads Wired in series = 16ohm load. Wired in parallel = 4 ohm load.

Whatever an amp puts out at 4 ohm, will be half of that at 8 ohms, so he could just get a powerful 4 ohm amp and run just that one sub, but the better option is to either sell it and get a lower impedance sub, or get another 8 ohm version of the same sub.

Parallel them babies, that will get you 4 ohms and let you take advantage of the amplifiers 4 ohm output...

ok good ,i was just looking at some diagrams ,and i got the jist of it,thanks alot guys,im gonna help him hook the 8ohm speakers in his car , and wire them parallel...

and i got all the stuuf to hook my car stereo back up,well itll all be here monday or tuesday.

but i am hooking up the 4 ohm punch hes,and i have 2 of them ,and from the diagrams that i was looking at it looks like i need to wire them parallel, both positives from speakers to positve on amp,and both negative from speakers to negative on amp, that should give me 2 ohms to each speaker.

Not exactly "2ohms to each speaker" but rather "the speakers will present a 2ohm load to the amp". Next question, the amp you will use is rated down to 2ohms? If not, then you may want to wire the subs in series and present the amp a 16ohm load.

Fuzzy math strikes again. 2x speakers at 4ohm in series = 8 ohms. Doh, I was doing the math for 8ohms in series.

Just get a 2 ohm stble amp if you want to run the dual 4 ohm speakers...

Car amps are cheap now, figure your needed wattage, and look on ebay, hifonics, R.fosgate, ect...
