I just dug out an old receiver out of a closet. It was originally my father-in-laws. It's a beautiful old Fisher and its weighs a ton. I'm thinking of restoring it but could use some advise. First of all, the front panel display light is out (FM tuning bar lights up but nothing on the dial). I haven't cracked it open yet so I don't know what I'm up against. I don't think they were using LEDs back then so what type of light source did they use? I have to say for a rated 40 wpc rated, this thing is heavy!

Most of the vintage receivers used pilot bulbs either of a bayonet mount or like 3AG fuse. Both are readily available on the internet.

Take the cover off and check the bulbs with a continuity tester..

Just my $0.02.... ;)
