Did anyone read the posts/links I provided?

With current FW, you can matrix TrueHD bitstream. With older FW, you could still matrix all of the codecs as PCM.

I wouldn't be surprised if many AVSers and AHers were more knowledgeable than the techs you get over the phone.

If GlocksRock is right, then about 100 AVSers are wrong.

Maybe the new FW does allow for PLIIx to be applied to TrueHD, but that's now how mine came, so I'm just explaining the reason why it won't work for him either. I don't plan up upgrading my FW anytime soon either since I don't want to reset every single setting I have made, and especially since I'm only using that receiver on a 5.1 system. I don't even see the FW listed on the downloads section of the page for the RX-V863.

no light

Guys if you are still out there please help. I rented finally blue ray movies which are in 7.1 channel such as Kick *** and other lions gate films. When I play them only 5 lights are lighting up (fr, fl, cr, sr, sl) on the receiver RXV863 but isnt it supposed to light up the sbl sbr also to show 7.1?

also the sound is coming as matrixed from the sbl and sbr speakers(whispering) but not real 7.1. By the way my extended surround is in PLIIx instead auto. is this the problem? pl advise

Are you sure your blu ray player was outputting bitstream of the dts hd master audio and not just the core dts 5.1 track? Also make sure you have priority given to surround back and not presence in your speaker setup.

in the setup menu of your receiver, under basic settings, speaker settings, the menu where you choose to set the speakers to small, larger, and set the crossover, it gives you the option to choose prioirity for the 6th and 7th channels, either surround back, or presence speakers, you need to make sure you select surround back. The only other thing you need to check is that you select the proper audio stream from the menu on the blu ray, some discs, especially Warner Bros. movies default to the non lossless audio track.

Sorry, that was the option for my RX-V1800, the RX-V663 just shows the option to set the surround back speaker size to either small small x2, large, large x2, so just make sure you have them connected to the correct terminals on the receiver and re check all of your settings in the menus.
