Sorry for the newbie question
I have a 5.1 speaker setup, Yamaha RX-V661 (HDMI 1.2a) receiver and a PVR and I plan to buy a Blu-ray player soon (Pioneer BDC-S02BK).
If I have a 7.1 HD audio track decoded on my PVR and transmitted to my RX-V661 via HDMI and LPCM, what setting does my receiver need to be in to convert the 7.1 to 5.1? If it was a 5.1 track, then I could use the "straight" mode. Not sure about 7.1 sources.
Sorry for the basic question but I'm finding the HD audio stuff quite confusing.
