663 sub output problem

Well I really had to boost the sub level to about +6 and crank the gain on the sub itself. The LFE level is set to 0 which I believe is the highest. (-20db to 0db)

When the sub level is at 0 and the gain on the sub is about halfway I can't hear anything coming from the sub when I play a test tone, seems strange...
You did say you set LFE to sub but it wouldn't hurt to double check that we are talking about the selection described on page 85. That is, on the LFE/BASS OUT selection, it is set to 'SWFR' or 'BOTH', but not 'FRONT'.

I was asking about the multichannel inputs because my unit (861) does not do any bass redirect to the subwoofer, regardless of setting the speakers to small and the bass out to the subwoofer.
The only way I'm able to get sound out of the sub, while using the multichannel analog input, is to force some content into that channel (with DVDs or my music creation software). The multichannel analog inputs are allways working in "direct mode", without DSP effects and bass redirection.
