As a dealer, I really really like what Jamo's done with the brand recently. These speakers are built very well & have a very neutral sound. Their lines were getting a little long in the tooth, but the C 60 series & the new C 80 lines really perform well.

You could be able to find a deal on something like this for $600 shipped...

Jamo C 607 (MSRP $800) http://jamo.com/Default.aspx?ID=6302&M=Shop&PID=18208&ProductID=17931

The pictures of the Jamo speakers aren't really fair to them. While they aren't built like a Canton (nothing really is), their fit & finish is superb. The styling's attractive and they sound & look much more expensive then they really are. A very neautral speaker that's confortable rocking out LOUD as well as playing more laid back music.

Hope this helps!

The C 803 is a great bookshelf speaker. It's unfortunate that Jamo isn't really well known here in the US like some other Euro brands. The brand has really picked it up as of late & the C 80 line is really an excellent product.

MSRP on the C 803 is $800 pair. It's a beautiful speaker.

Yes, Klipsch bough Jamo a year & a half ago (if I remember right?).

Everything Jamo still originates from Denmark & is European in design. I don't see ANY trickle down effect in either the Jamo or Energy lines. Klipsch did kill the Athena line and have been doing questionable (meaning nothing progressive) things with Mirage, but Energy & Jamo look to be completely on the up-swing & still independant. From what I hear it will stay that way. Klipsch isn't looking to make the other brands "Klipsch". We're not talking about the "Borg" from Star Trek here. They're a business that bought their way into other markets.

In fact, here in the US Jamo/Energy are sold completely different than Klipsch/Mirage. Different management, sales force, etc. They did merge a lot of the warehousing & shipping, which makes sense, but the HQ & tech support for Jamo/Klipsch is still out of Indianapolis. Overall, I think the integration has gone fairly smoothly (after the first year).

The BIG reason Klipsch bought Jamo (the way it was told to me from a very reliable corporate source) is for their European distribution channels.

I'm a dealer of essentially the entire Klipsch family (not a fan boy BY ANY MEANS. I cherry pick the pieces that are best from each brand) as well as about two dozen other speaker comapnies. Klipsch, for the most part, operates very similar to everyone else.

That's because you didn't call customer service yet ;) lol. What a pain!

BTW, how would you compare Jamo to Energy?

way to hijack my thread guys =[

how do yall rate the Polk RTi12's? I have the R50's and they are pretty nice. Never heard the RTi12's and would consider buying those bad boys.

Honestly, it still seems on track to me. They were discussing some pricing and aspects associated with one of the brands that was suggested, as well as how it compares to another brand. Jamo is well liked by some here, but it doesn't get mentioned as often here, so there is probably some curiousity.

As for my two cents on your question, the best pair of $600 speakers comes down to what you like. It's very important to audition speakers because what you like might (and likely does) differ from what others here like. For example, some love Paradigm, so hate them (including myself). I think that $600 for a pair of tower speakers will get you some good, but not great, speakers. It's all relative, though. If they are better than what you have now, then you'll love them - until you hear something that you like better. :)

true. I like Polk Audio, and I like big sound which they tend to do. Thats what I am debating the RTi12's since they are big speakers. Im guessing I will up my budget to $1k to get those things unless someone tells me they RTi12's are horrible.

Have you been able to listen to those Polks yourself, or is there anywhere nearby that you could go check them out?

oh mazersteven i knew that the rti12's are WAY better than the r50's. i was stating that i have the r50's and love them which is why im considering getting the rti12's and making the r50's my rear surrounds.

my question was how are the rti12's in general. im planning on getting them unless someone tells me they arent very good.

IMO the RTi series is an excellent value. But I have not auditioned the new RTi series from Polk (just the original series) to fairly state how good they are.

hijacking "your" thread is a moot point.

You're the one that's going to buy these thingies without hearing them which is a guaranteed way to be blissfully ignorant as to what you really, really could have had. You may like 'em, or you may not.

Remember, you're totally depending on the tastes and opinions of others. Would you choose a wife this way?
