Specs of the XLS series shows impedance of 6 ohms*. The asterick at the bottom showed * 8 ohm compatible.
1. Are they now making speakers that can automatically adjust resistance? Can someone please explain what this means.

2. Can I hook up 4 four XLS-6, 1 XLS-6C and 1 XLS-15S to the RX-V671 without running into any problems. Impedance of the bookshelf & center speakers are all 6 ohms* (*8 ohm compatible)

Specs of the RX-V671
Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 90W (8ohms, 0.09% THD)

3. To hook up the XLS-15S I would only connect one RCA cable from the Preout to the subwoofer, correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anytime that I have used 6 ohm speakers with an "8 ohm" receiver, I have never had any problems. Just because a speaker has a certain rated impedance, doesn't mean that it operates at that impedance at all frequencies. It's too complex to explain, but the impedance basically fluctuates with frequency. The impedance rating is an "average" rating. In your case, I would not pay attention to this issue. By the way, being a Yamaha owner myself, Yamahas don't care unless you try to run something rediculous like a 2 ohm load on the amplifier.

Thanks Bikdav for the quick response. Guess I'll go ahead with my purchase. Can you recommend a good quality stand for medium to large bookshelf speakers. I've been searching the forums and haven't found anything. Seems you guys dont talk about stands at all.

My Onkyo HT-RC160 surround system came with 6 ohm speakers. Thought that was strange until I researched for myself.
