I think of Audiogon, and their "All Out Assault" area. Been years since I've seen it, so thanks, hahaha. I remember this being a pretty outrageous LCR!!!!

Some other system pics, though I bet there are a hundred more at 6'+.

Actually, the gentleman (Ken Fritz of Petersburg, VA) who owns that system is a really nice guy. The room you see is his unfinished dedicated stand-alone sound room/building. IIRC, the speakers are a one-off design he played a roll in by making the baffle at his company. At the time I made contact with him, he was an owner of a Tool & Die company. We exchanged a couple of emails and he gave me an open invitation to audition his system. I failed to follow through and never got an opportunity to visit him. He does respond to PM's on Audiongon.

Okay, now on to your regular scheduled OP messaging.....

There are a few Electrostatic speakers that are around 6 foot tall. Martin Logan was mentioned. Even older speakers from them, such as the Sequel, are 6 foot tall. They can be snagged on the used market for around $1-2k.

When speakers are that tall do you have to worry about new kinds of reflections they could cause in the room?

Only if you have 7-8 ft ceilings. Don't most modern homes have at least 10 ft ceilings if not 12 or higher these days?

It is going to depend upon the speaker type (as well as some other things). For example, with long ribbon speakers, typically the vertical dispersion is less than with most other types, so a tall ribbon might actually be better in that regard than a bookshelf speaker, though it depends upon what specific speakers we are talking about and how they are placed in the room, as well as the acoustic properties of the room. In other words, you have no more worries than with a smaller speaker, except that you are likely to have fewer choices in where to put a larger speaker.

I couldn't agree with you more. :)
