The digital input will be nice to use in my bedroom set-up that is 2.1. The LCD has a digital out.

A stereo receiver with digital inputs, that's very interesting. I haven't seen a receiver that does that in a long time.

Looks to be they are going all out with the stereo rigs.

That first link has a different language at the top part. Anybody know what it is? The second link is using British currency for pricing. Are these not in the states or something?

Mike,

You may have us beat in the accessibility game if that is the case. Here's to the European market. I like HK simply because it is my first and only rec'r ever. I'm kind of leary of the 347 because of something I read regarding the HDMI pass through as it relates to deep color. Not sure if it's true or not but these are interesting to me because I am sure that advancements have been made and features have been added. I'm really looking forward to learning more about these. I too think they're sharp looking.

I think putting the digital inputs on the receiver is a great idea. The predecessor was a really good powerful two channel receiver. For a second music only room this will be ideal. Moderate price and no need for an expensive cd player with the digital connection. I wish my analog pre-amp had such digital connections. It would have saved the purchase of an outboard`DAC.

Imho, HK gear is not of the same quality as it was 30 years ago. Since they setup shop in China their QC isn’t as good.
I’ve got the AVR635, which the first one had to be replaced after 6~9 months. The second one the mic setup has stopped working.
In my analog room, I'm using HK Citation 11 pre-amp and Citation 19 power amp, both date back to the late ‘70’s, very nice units.
At some point I’m going to upgrade the 635, which I use as a pre/pro, to a real pre/pro, maybe Anthem, B&K, something made in NA, undecided at this time.

Not trying to be decisive, but a question.

What is made (manufactured, not assembled) in NA anymore?

unfortunately anthem fudges their spec ratings.

e.g. 1khz 1% THD ratings instead of 20-20k .0X%THD
And so do a lot of companies.
A local satellite dealer/HT dealer is opening up a new showroom, using Anthem gear, so I'm going to be doing an audition, to see if that's the direction I want to go.
But, as far as how companies spec their gear, many overstate the rated power, Denon comes to mind. Whereas, HK amps are understated. In the same room, same speakers I was running an 80w Denon almost to full power, but a 100w HK at a max of only 10w to get the same spl.

that's no reason to fudge.

if everybody else robbed a bank ... should I as well?

Fudging spec's is wrong. Only thing wrong with robbing banks is getting caught. They don't need all that money. So yeah, if everybody else was robbing banks ...... ;)

I wasn’t looking at their amps, I was looking at the preamps.
But specs don’t mean squat, to me, until I hear what any given piece of gear sounds like.
