Guess I'll start with my setup so far and what I plan to do. So far I have a pair of RP6000F's run by a Denon X3500H(7.2 / 5.2.2). I ran audyssey XT32 room calibration. Kept the XT32 room Eq. But disabled the dynamic stuff, dont really need volume control. I planned on getting pair or rp500m for surround but recently considering the bipole rp502s. I also want to get rp500sa for back surround OR rear height OR front height as atmos, which is my dilemma...

My listening area is 10.5ft(according to audyssey)x13ftx16ft. Couch 4" off back wall and can place side surround on speaker stands 3'-5' max from sides of couch. Right side having a big window, left being more open room.

For best listening experience in a situation where couch is against wall(actually about 4" off wall) 1. Should I use bipole or monopole for side surrounds?
2. Should I run the rp500sa as surround back (7.2)and little closer to MLP. Or throw them like 8ft above and 4-5ft apart MLP and do height / atmos (5.2.2) I'm so torn lol. Thanks in advance! -Paul L.

IMO, 7.2 isn’t going to be effective, and might be more a distraction than anything. I would absolutely do 5.2.2 before 7.2 in any room. Some Atmos is better than no Atmos, and 7.anything is only a marginal upgrade to 5.x.
Definitely do 5.2.2, but keep in mind the heights should be in front of you. Like this...

They can be high on the sides too, but definitely in front. Another supported location is on the front wall where it meets the ceiling.

Cant do high sides or ceiling. Front heights against ceiling would put them like 25ft away from MLP...also cant do big screwed in wall mount speakers either....8lb rp502s or even like SVS Elevations are doable with few heavy duty 3M adhesives though.

Ok. I’ll slow down next time when reading lol.
I thought the space was small. If you really have 25’ of length, could you move the couch forward? Maybe a diagram, or even a doodle would help to see what you’ve got. Pics are better yet.
To answer one question, as much as I dislike them personally, the bipoles might be a good choice if they’re gonna be that close. But imo and Ime you should have roughly 5’ behind you to use rear surrounds.

So I should just put them high and run 5.2.2 . I'll prob go with bipole and put them to the side like a foot in front of MLP. I gotta read up more I guess on bipole positioning

If this helps at all

Yes, very helpful. Could you mount them at the red locations?

Yes. I could. I believe a few heavy duty 3m strips would be fine...I hope
as I cant drill or make holes in the wall.
