5.1 Setup Worries...

Hi!
I'm relatively new to home theatre, surround sound etc. but want to buy a 5.1 setup for my Xbox 360/DVD player. Unfortunately the TV is in the corner of a fairly large, high-ceilinged room which doubles as my sibling's playroom... which effectively eliminates using floor stands for the rear speakers. The ceiling is about 3.5 meters high, and I am wondering would ceiling-mounting be a good option? If so, how far and at what angle would the rear speakers need to be from the couch for optimal rear sound?
If it makes a difference, the 5.1 kit I am planning on using is a Logitech Z-5500...pretty expensive for a first-time thing, I know...
Thanks!

Welcome to AH!

To the best of my knowledge, I have never heard of ceiling mounts for speakers, but I do know that wall mounts are a good way of getting the rear speakers above ear level as they should ideally be. For speaker placement purposes, I hope this helps:

Perhaps you can try mounting those speakers to walls mounts and angle them towards the seating area? If not, perhaps a different configuration, such as a 2.1 system would work better.

Could you possibly upload a picture of the room layout? It would help in describing the current situation.

You could use this link here:

(if anything I stated here is incorrect and faulty, someone with much more expertise will offer better advice :D)

depending how far the back wall is, im in the same scenario. The back wall is too far to put wall mounts.

heres a link for ceiling and wall mounts. put them on the ceiling and angle them downwards a bit.

I haven't purchased anything from there myself (yet). but they have pretty good options from what I can see.

but then again, pics would definitely help to make sure you're getting the right advice, or maybe some measurements
