Just ordered some bluejean rca and f/o cables to replace older ones out of the box type!Visited this site quite often but never as a member untill recently. My question is this analog 5.1 (via oppo player) or coax( via cd player)is there a thread or post some where explaining sound quality between both connections. Also is it worth while or not spending $$$ for analog direct 5.1cables??

The only reason to buy the 5.1 analog interconnects is for DVD-A playback. If you don't own any or plan on owning any DVD-As then you should stick with the S/PDIF (IEC-958) Coaxial/Optical Digital Audio outputs.

Oppo analog outputs

Most people buy the oppo for its great video upscalling via the DVI connection. Its analog outputs and bass management aren't very good, so pass on the extra cable. You will still need a digital optical or coax cable from the oppo to the receiver for the audio soundtrack from DVDs.
