5.1.4 vs 7.1.4

I am currently having a dedicated HT room renovated where the room dimension is 15 x 15 ft. Unfortunately, I cannot make change the size due to design limitations in the house.

I am planning to have a projector with 100 inch screen for my visuals but I'm on the edge if i can do 5.1.4 or 7.1.4.

Considering the room dimensions which do you think would work best?

You could do 7.1.4 in that size room. It's all about the speakers and the placement

Depends. If the couch/seats will be up against the back wall no. Don’t try 7.1.4. If you can get at least 4’ off the back wall then it could be worth trying. Also for 5.1.4, you’ll need to be off the back wall too, however rear tops will be more forgiving than rear surrounds. Meaning being too close to the rear surrounds will hit spot much more than rear tops, and also we can’t hear directionality above us nearly as well.
So for your question, 5.1.4 will work best.
