Looking for some help and advice.

Currently I have:
TX-NR636
SVS Prime Center
SVS prime Bookshelves
LV12-R Subwoofer

I love the speakers I have now and would like to enhance the theater experience in my main living room. I have however ran into some difficulty's when it comes to how I should place my surround speakers in the room.

The room is 16' x 10' x 9' with adjoining kitchen of the same size. see picture.

Only in ceiling speakers will be acceptable to the wife. I could easily just do a simple 5.1 by adding two ceiling speakers above the couch. I would like to think of 5.1 as the least interesting option.

I am curious is there a way to setup a 7.1 system in this space? maybe ceiling speakers above the fronts?

Also is there a way to do a 5.1.2 atoms setup and use all my amp

capabilities?

Thanks for the help!

sorry.. to add on actually on most of my setups i do prefer Dolby Enabled speakers compared to direct effect via ceiling speakers. Unless the ceiling is higher than 3m.

1. What amp/AVR are you using
2. With you open plan where are you surrounds mounted? or do those need to be ceiling?
3. Budget? I can provide some options, but need a little more help

Love the High Tech Drawing :)

I like the GoldenEar Invisa 7000 Line of Speakers, because the Tweeter is already angled so if you need to use it as surrounds they do work well. I am putting those in my Atmos/DTS:X setup I am building.

You may want to move the couch forward a few feet. Place a 2nd sub in the back right corner and some speakers on the back wall or on stands for the surrounds. Then run 2 pairs of in-ceiling speakers front/back for the height channels. This will give you a 5.1.4 Atmos setup or just 2 in-ceiling speakers mid ceiling for 5.1.2.

Sorry for not responding in a timely manner, but i thought i would let everybody know what i ended up doing.

I bought a pair of POLK RC80 in-ceiling speakers and had them placed above each corner of the couch. The difference these budget speakers have made to the overall sound for movies has been incredible. it just brings movies to life and adds a whole other dimension to the sound. I am going to hold off and adding any more speakers until i can add a second sub woofer to even out the lower end.

Thanks for the help

no problem. jus a add on. Txnr 636 can't have a 5.1.4 setup. 5.1.2 without bi-wiring too. enjoy your movies.
