Ok, I'm looking for speakers for a 5.1 system. Power is no biggie, I have tons. I want towers all the way around. There is no WAF so big is good. I like dynamic. I want to use 2 towers on either side of the TV for centers and then 4 more for the mains and surround. I have a sub so that is not a problem. I can go over $4k but don't want to.

Here is what I recommend all the way around. BIGGER is always BETTER and ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN BABY!

Interesting. What's the reasoning behind this?

Oh, that is a tough one. A number of makers could fill your needs well. Not sure that the two on the side of the TV used as center will work well.
Anyway of testing that choice before you buy?

I've tested it out (with other speakers). The room is big, and I am far away from the TV.

The room is over 6,500 ft^3

80 x 80?
65 x 100?

What's the goal?

Well Gene, as usual, your plethora of knowledge is quite helpful. I’ll keep those in mind. You have a POC for that company?

That's 676 sq ft.

Sorry, just noticed you said cubic feet, not square.

Still not sure why you'd want a pair of towers vs a center channel. Does a pair of towers actually sound better?

That looks like the truth in audio and video:rolleyes: For a moderator, I would expect something a little more constructive.

I think the way to go is a pair of BIC Acoustech HT-75 towers for your center, and then an Axiom EP600 in each corner.

98 is better then 87. This means they need less juice to play at the same level.

If you are interested in "Dynamic" above all else, then look at the Klipsch Reference series. Not necessarily my cup of tea.

2 suggestions that will give you something a little out of the ordinary, with awesome sound.

2 pair wharfedale pacific evo 30 for center and surrounds
1 pair wharfedale pacific evo 40 for mains.
(or you could get 2 pair evo 40s for mains and center, & 1 pair evo20 for surrounds)

Alternate suggestion:
2 pair Monitor Audio Silver RS8 for mains & center
1 pair Monitor Audio Silver RS6 for surround.

I think both of these set-ups would give you great sound, and an awesome look. Maybe not the most internet available, but great speakers. I had someone put me in contact with a great authorized dealer for the wharfedales who gives great prices and ships.

Enjoy

How about the Axiom M60ti. I have a pair for mains, and could not praise them enough. Axiom has free shipping and a 30 day return policy.

The M60 goes for $900.00/pair and if you buy 5 or more you get 10% off. Further, if you get from the factory outlet, you get another 10% off. To set up 7 speakers the cost will be about $2800.00 for new or $2450.00 from the factory outlet.

If you want to go really big, you can get the M80ti. For 7 it will be $3900.00 new or $3475.00 from the factory outlet.

You don't think they are bright? I had a pair of m22s and I thought they were pretty bright. I have heard that the towers are much more tame.

Those sure look pretty.
The sw4.1 towers are 4ohm with 87 db sensitivity, is that better than, say 8ohm with 98db sensitivity?

At a 4k budget, he can do more than the acoustech. With my budget, I think the acoustech system is my best option.:)
It means they are actually worse. 87 at 4 ohms is like 84 at 8.

Off the top of my head...

(2) Paradigm monitor11 for mains
(2) Paradigm monitor7 for centers
(2) Paradigm monitor7 for surrounds

Fairly dynamic and a wide sound stage IMO.

I don't know exactly what the final price would be but it would be under $4000.

For a little more money you could have (6) studio60's (approx $4800 + tax I think) Don't ya just love when people want to spend more even when you have given them an already generous budgit.:D
