These are 4 Magnum 12" subwoofers in ported boxes. In the pic there are screws where I had speaker grills on the boxes. The screws got stripped so I couldn't take them out. I have 2 of these boxes sitting directly behind my spot of the couch. They slam your back with music or movies. If I were you I would put all 4 subwoofers behind your couches and everyone can enjoy the back slam! Local pickup in Longmont, CO 80501. Here is a picture of one of the boxes... and a link to the subs online for specs and T/S parameters:
Denovo Audio Magnum-12 Woofer (diysoundgroup.com)

These boxes were flat packs from DIYSG so they are good well braced boxes and the right size for this subwoofer. Price drop to $450 local pickup.

You can get those broken screws out. You drill a hole in the broken screw the right size to take the correct "Easy Out". This device has a reverse thread and when put on your drill and make a thread in the broken screw it will remove the broken part of the screw.

You must have used nasty Chinese screws. Tip: - only buy American screws, nuts and bolts. That means not buying at places like Home Depot.

Would ACE hardware be a good place for screws?
That depends on the ownership of the hardware store. Most are franchised and individually owned. So it depends heavily on the owner and staff how good their products are.

I am lucky, at Walker MN who had an owner who would not stock junk and here in Eagan we have a really good ACE at Thomas Lake. All the hardware and plumbing parts are of very high quality, and the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. So I give them my business. We often have some good laughs about Home Depot, their junk and pig dribble ignorant staff.

As doc said it depends. But normally A s is pretty good. Also. Not to contradict him. But it looks like the screws are sticking out. I vice grips should make quick work of getting those out.

I assume he had tried vice grips, but if there is not much sticking out, he will scratch the fronts. I think on balance the Easy Out is his best option. They work really well and you have the power equipment for the extraction.

They can work well for sure. It’s just more steps than necessary if he can just grip and turn. A deft hand should be able to do it scratch free.
