Vizio TVs are made by a company called AmTran. Most of their panels are made by LG, but I think they'll move to more Taiwanese panel makers in the coming years. Nothing really "wrong" with 'em

FYI - The only two TV manufactures I have seen with TVs made/assembled in the US with in the last couple years is Sony and Pioneer. The ones from Sony were uncommon and it could be a thing of the past though.
A good deal of final assembly for the US is done in Mexico. For the reason it is easier to ship to US distributors from there in cases where there is no assembly in the US, which is most cases.

recent trip to the local Sam's Club...Vizio 32" 720p HDTV for less than $380. I'm not convinced you could really see much difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32" set at normal viewing distances.

My Vizio 32" is still performing extremely well after 3 years.
