Gonna be buying a Marantz SR8500 receiver with Axiom M60s and a EP350 subwoofer complimenting the mains. My major use will be music. I would love to spend less than $500 for good quality CD playback (SACD included), and would like an HDMI capable DVD payer.

BOTTOM LINE: Would like some soild recommendations. Also, should I buy a seperate CD player?

THANKS

If HDMI is a requirement, I'd go with the Denon 1920.
While I traded away HDMI, a feature that I don't need at this time, for what I feel was the better build quality of the Yamaha DV-C6770, I think the Denon is a solid choice. The Denon is a single disc player, while the Yamaha plays 5 discs. Basically, the 6770 is the internet sales version of the DVD-C750.

Somebody will probably try to trump me with a Pioneer player. The model number I don't recall. But heck, it's silver, Yuck!!!

And no, although a few may disagree, I don't think you need a separate CD player with a quality DVD player.

Another option is the Denon 2910 which would put you just over $500 at around $561-568....google it!

Recently purchased a Panasonic S97 DVD player (as in my recent thread), and I couldn't be happier. I'm using an HDMI to DVI conection with no discernable problems. The onboard DACs on this player are noticably better (at least sound better to me) than my receivers' for audio CD's and the like. All-in-all, it's a great player for under $300.00 .
