The left side is mostly glass, the right is mostly open to another room. Floors are hardwood, ceilings drywall I guess.
Here are some pics. For reference, the plasma is 50". The room is about 25x23.
Hmm. Somehow I doubt that three towers would pass the WAF-test, unfortunately. But if they will, then do that.
Given the asymmetry of the side-walls, I would recommend the best narrowest-directivity speaker you can find. And given the aesthetic constraints, you might want to consider running a phantom center.
An out-of-the-box idea that may work well in that room, however, is to use three Danley Synergy horns, such as
the SM60F. Maybe (I know I'm breaking my own rule here, but the reason for it is more even coverage; consider this advice a rare exception) with the
SM96 in the middle. Move the TV down as much as you can, and mount the three speakers on the front wall/ceiling juncture. Angle them such that one side of the mouth is parallel to the ceiling, and the other side slopes down. Toe the left and right ones in considerably.
I don't know if you're up for such an unconventional solution, but it seems to me that's a good fit for your constraints and should be in your budget. (I think the SM60F's are $2500 or so. Dunno about the SM96.) The directivity is narrow enough that you won't have much in the way of early reflections, which in your case will be universally deleterious because they'll be so asymmetric.
I recommend throwing a rug down in between the listening position and the speakers.
Agreed. The plusher, the better.
